If you settle in Switzerland in the canton of Geneva, you have one year to exchange your national licence for a Swiss licence at the cantonal vehicle office in Geneva. Therefore, if you fail the practical test you will have to follow the normal process of obtaining a Swiss driving licence.
First, you have to determine if a practical exam is required by Geneva state to exchange your national license. If yes, then we recommend you to have your driving skills evaluated by our school before registering in the vehicle cantonal office (OCV) to exchange your national license into a Swiss one.
If you fail the practical test you won’t have the possibility to drive in Switzerland with your national license and will have to follow the normal process of obtaining a Swiss driving licence.
As it is pretty difficult and variable from a driver to another to assess how many driving lessons you will need, we can only give you the procedure costs. You will have to pay for an eye test (CHF 20.-), a registering fee in the vehicle car office (CHF ?), an optional cost for an official translator during the practical exam (CHF 150.-) and an issuing fee after succeeding in your practical exam (CHF 150.-).

The first aid course, also known as the Samaritan course is the first step to obtaining your driving license! It is a mandatory course, where you will be taught how to apply first aid in case of an accident.
The theory course is the second step to getting your driving license. This course will help you understand Swiss road rules but you will also be given tips for your theoretical exam that will help you pass it. Whether you are a beginner or already hold a foreign license, will highly recommend this course !
Submit the completed form to the motor vehicle department or also known as OCV. You must go to the counter in person and present a color photo of yourself, a first aid certificate, a Swiss identity card or a residence permit.
Once you have completed and filed your application, you will be given a dates to choose from for your theoretical exam. Then when you pass, you will have to buy a provisional license that will allow you to drive as a student within Switzerland.
This third course is a mandatory course to attend that will talk about traffic awareness. It is an 8 hour course that is usually given on two half days of 4 hours each. To attend this course, you must have a valid student license and once completed, you will be able to register for your practical test.
In Switzerland unlike other European countries, Lessons are optional but highly recommended.
